The short film "Color of a Goodbye" was directed and filmed in black & white by Max Houtman in 2020. I had the pleasure of composing the score and in February 2021 I booked the Arthema String Quartet inside one of the oldest monasteries in the Netherlands: Het Cenakel (Tilburg).

Since the film is about a woman who leaves her husband to go live in a monastery, it was fitting that we should record the score in the lush acoustics of Cenakel. The score is a warm sounding hybrid score with lots of emotional string passages. In the Cenakel we set up close mics and 120 degree room mics to capture the full potential of the hall. The final result will soon be published on Spotify.

Here are some excerpts from the recording session:

During the summer of 2020 the Arthem Quartet was involved in the making of the movie soundtrack for Milou Gevers award winning short documentary "Waarom Bleef Je Niet Voor Mij". Since it's premiere on the 3rd of October the film has been reaping in awards and recognition both domestically and internationally.

In November the film won the VPRO Documentary awards 2020, then in December it was awarded both the KNF award and the NPO Wildcard Documentary Award at the Dutch Film Festival. Now it is nominated for the AHK Audience Prize in January 2021 and is officially the most watched documentary on NPO from 2020.

The video game demo for "At Eve's Wake" was released on Steam the night of the 31st of October. It is now available on Steam.

Enjoy my orchestral score with dark Beethovenesque piano passages and haunting orchestrations.

"At Eve's Wake is an interactive horror story inspired by Lovecraft's work about surviving a family you never knew and uncovering their sinister practices. Will you embrace them or rid humanity of their taint? Your actions will shape your fate and that of the family."
